2) NO alcohol.

3) NO touching any of the exhibits or performers.

4) You must have appropriate clothing to navigate through challenging

environments: no high heels or flip-flops. Bags should be checked at the door.

5) The Soap Factory reserves the right to refuse admission, as well as the right to insist a patron leave the premises.

6) You will be required to sign a waiver before entering the basement.

7) People with pacemakers or similar implanted medical devices should not enter the basement.

8) Groups of 4 visitors enter the basement in intervals of 3 minutes.

The Factory of Terror is Ohio’s premier haunted attraction and one of Ohio’s best haunted attractions. AND – is now officially (Again) the largest haunted house on the planet, according to Guinness Book of World Records. The former aluminum foundry turned house-of-horror at 4125 Mahoning Rd. NE in Canton, was measured again on Saturday, August 27th. The owners, John, Rich Jr. and Matt Eslich, were notified by the England-based Guinness organization that the haunted house they created has set a new record as “Longest Walk-Through Horror House” in the world.

The record 3,796 feet is a winding path through terror-filled hallways, mazes, rooms and dilapidated factory chambers.

Cannon River Winery

We haven't tried the Ice Wine yet but have had the majority of their wines including the port. We would recommend the Mancini's Levee Red. This wine is a nice cab and goes great with pastas or used in sauce and stews.

Many of the Cannon River wines can be found at the local stores.

Jim and Bonnie Parr, a.k.a., “The Fun Finders”, sampled dishes and beverages from bd’s Mongolian Grill as part of the Rand McNally and USA TODAY’”Best of the Road Rally” American tour. The Florida couple taste-tested food from a dozen Burnsville restaurants, planted a tree, and toured Burnsville over the course of two days

New National Cemeteries

The Veterans Millennium Health Care and Benefits Act of 1999 requires VA to establish six additional national cemeteries in areas of the United States in which the need for burial space is greatest. Those areas are: Atlanta, Georgia; Detroit, Michigan; Miami, Florida; Sacramento, California; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Fort Sill National Cemetery near Oklahoma City opened for interments in 2001, the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies near Pittsburgh, Pa. and the Great Lakes National Cemetery near Detroit opened in 2005, the Georgia National Cemetery, and the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery opened in 2006, the South Florida National Cemetery near Miami, opened in 2007.

The National Cemetery Act of 2003 authorizes VA to establish new national cemeteries to serve veterans in the areas of Bakersfield, Calif.; Birmingham, Ala.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Sarasota County, Fla.; southeastern Pennsylvania; and Columbia-Greenville, S.C. All six areas have veteran populations exceeding 170,000, which is the threshold VA has established for new national cemeteries. Ft. Jackson, Jacksonville, Sarasota, Alabama and Bakersfield National Cemeteries opened for interments in 2009.

Google Cloud – Based Music Storage

Called "Music Beta by Google," the service lets users store their tunes remotely and access them from any compatible device, including mobile phones, tablets and computers. So far, it does not offer music downloads or song sales and it doesn't let people listen to music they haven't physically uploaded.

The service will be available by invitation only starting on Tuesday, free of charge while it is being tested. Google announced the new service at its yearly conference for software developers in San Francisco. It did not say whether, or how much, it plans to charge eventually.

Cellphone alert system announced in NYC

The U.S. government and local authorities will soon be able to reach people directly on their cellphones to warn them of imminent danger or alert them about missing children - even in the middle of a widespread emergency that overloads communications systems as happened after the Sept. 11 attacks, officials said Tuesday

iPhone GPS aids in capture of car theft suspect

Police said 29-year-old Joshua Mitzelfelt allegedly stole a truck left unattended and running in a Colorado Springs driveway Tuesday morning. The owner's iPhone was on the front seat.The truck's owner began tracking his vehicle's location though a website monitoring the phone's GPS application while updating sheriff dispatchers. Officers spotted the truck about 7 miles (11 kilometers) from the owner's residence and arrested the driver.

Sony Playstation to Restore Network by the End of May

Sony also confirmed that personal data from 24.6 million user accounts was stolen in the hacker attack last month. Personal data, including credit card numbers, might have been stolen from another 77 million PlayStation accounts, said Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka.

Sony was under heavy criticism over its handling of the network intrusion. The company did not notify consumers of the breach until April 26 even though it began investigating unusual activity on the network since April 19.

Last month, U.S. lawyers filed a lawsuit against Sony on behalf of lead plaintiff Kristopher Johns for negligent protection of personal data and failure to inform players in a timely fashion that their credit card information may have been stolen. The lawsuit seeks class-action status.

Obama presses Congress on cybersecurity measures

"The cybersecurity vulnerabilities in our government and critical infrastructure are a risk to national security, public safety and economic prosperity," the White House said in a statement.

The legislative proposal from the Obama administration would require companies that suffer data breaches to report that to consumers if their personal information is stolen.

The administration also wants to force companies critical to U.S. infrastructure -- such as electric companies and big financial firms -- to develop their own plans to address security weaknesses.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would be allowed to weigh in on whether particular plans are adequate.

Microsoft deal should vastly expand reach of Skype

Microsoft already has a Skype-like service called Windows Live. But the real Skype is far more popular and bridges different computers and phones. Already, someone using the Skype application on an iPhone can talk to someone who has it installed on a Dell laptop.

For businesses, Microsoft has separate communications software. Building Skype into it would make it easier for corporate users to conduct video chats with people at other companies, or from home, said Bern Elliott, an analyst at the research firm Gartner Inc.

Skype is the largest provider of international calling services in the world, surpassing any single phone company, according to research firm TeleGeography.

The partnership would also bring Skype to the Xbox video game console and has sold 50 million copies, making it the world's No. 2 video game system behind the Nintendo Wii.

The purchase is the most expensive in Microsoft's 36-year history, eclipsing its $6 billion acquisition of online ad service aQuantive in 2007

Tech Supply Chain Takes A Hit Following Japan Catastrophe
Japan is responsible for 14 percent of global production in computers, and other consumer electronics. Japanese makers for certain parts, such as flat screen panels, have an ever stronger hold on the respective supply markets. Sixty percent of the world's silicon wafers--used in semiconductor chips--are made in Japan.
Some analysts predict it could take six months before the tech supply chain returns to normal. Plants run by Toshiba, Panasonic and Sony have already been struck with damage, forcing shutdowns of several facilities. Sony has closed at least seven factories so far.
Factory damage is not the only concern. Infrastructural issues in the country--involving roads and mandated power outages--could delay rebuilding efforts for affected plants, and also slow the speed of transportation for parts. Repairing infrastructure throughout the country could take years.

TV Dinners/Microwave Dinners – mention name is still being used although obsolete

The term TV dinner is a generalized trademark originally used for a brand of packaged meal developed in 1953 for C.A. Swanson & Sons. (The name in full was TV Brand Frozen Dinner.) In the United States, the term is now synonymous with any prepackaged dinner purchased frozen in a supermarket and heated at home, although Swanson stopped using the name "TV Dinner" in 1962.The name TV dinner came from the shape of the tray it was served on.^[2] The main entree was in a bigger compartment on one side of the tray and the vegetables lined up in smaller compartments on the other side. The arrangement was similar to that of the front panels of a 1950s television set: a screen on the left and speakers and control on the right. There were other theories about the name of the TV dinner. One reason was that early packaging featured the image of a TV set. Another was that many families would eat these in front of a TV set.

Tang is a sweet and tangy, orange-flavored drink, from the United States. Named after the tangerine, the original orange-flavored Tang was formulated by William A. Mitchellfor General Foods Corporation in 1957 and first marketed in powdered form in 1959.

It was initially intended as a breakfast drink, but sales were poor until NASA used it on Gemini flights in 1965 (researched at Natick Soldier Systems Center; Tang was heavily advertised as the drink first used on John Glenn's Mercury flight). Since then it was closely associated with the U.S. manned spaceflight program, leading to the misconception that Tang was invented for the space program. Tang was famously used by some early NASA manned space flights. In 1962, when Mercury astronaut John Glenn conducted eating experiments in orbit, Tang was selected for the me and was also used during some Gemini flights. Discovery final flight for NASA 2/24/2011

NASA is ending its space shuttle program this year after 30 years of spaceflight to make way for new exploration plans that call for sending astronauts to an asteroid by 2025 and to Mars in the 2030s. Once the shuttle fleet retires, NASA will rely on unmanned spacecraft built by Europe, Russia and Japan to deliver cargo to the space station until American-built commercial spacecraft become available

Japan may send chatty humanoid tweet-bot to space

Japan's space agency is considering putting a talking humanoid robot on the International Space Station to watch the mission while astronauts are asleep, monitor their health and stress levels and communicate to Earth through the micro-blogging site Twitter. Japan's space agency JAXA announced this week that it is looking at a plan to send a humanoid robot to the space station in 2013 that could communicate with the ground through Twitter - primarily feeding photos, rather than original ideas - and provide astronauts with "comfort and companionship."

Gov't says up to 10% in US lack good Internet

As many as one in 10 Americans can't get Internet connections that are fast enough for common online activities such as watching video or teleconferencing, and two thirds of schools have broadband connections that are too slow to meet their needs. Those are some of the conclusions from the Commerce Department as it unveiled a detailed, interactive online map showing what types of high-speed Internet connections are available - or missing - in every last corner of the country

Between 5 percent and 10 percent of Americans lack access to broadband access that is fast enough to handle downloads of some Web pages, photos and video or simple video conferencing services

Two-thirds of schools surveyed have Internet connections that are slower than 25 megabits per second - well below the 50- to 100-megabit connections that state education technology directors say are needed to serve roughly 1,000 students

Only 4 percent of libraries have connection speeds that are faster than 25 megabits

Only 36 percent of Americans have access to wireless connections that are fast enough to be considered fourth generation, with download speeds of at least 6 megabits per second, although 95 percent of Americans have access to third-generation wireless service.

A video is being widely circulated showing a shirtless boy receiving secondary screening from a Transportation Security Officer (TSO). A passenger filmed the screening with their cell phone and posted the video on the web. Many are coming to their own conclusions about what's happening in the video which is now perched at the top of the Drudge report and being linked to in many other blogs and tweets. We looked into this to find out what happened.

CHARLIE CRICHTON WINS RECORD SIXTH TERM ON CITY COUNCIL, INCUMBENT DAN KEALEY RE-ELECTED
The Burnsville City Council will welcome two familiar faces due to the results of the November 2 General Election. Burnsville voters returned incumbents Charlie Crichton and Dan Kealey to the City Council. For Crichton, first elected in 1992 to the Council, this marks his sixth election victory. Voters returned Kealey for a second term. Both are elected to four year terms and all serve the community at large as Burnsville does not have a ward system.

WASHINGTON – A bill that would help reporters better protect their confidential sources passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee today. The bill, S. 448, The Free Flow of Information Act of 2009, would enact a federal shield law for journalists. The House passed its version of the bill earlier this year. Currently, forty-nine states and the District of Columbia recognize some form of reporters’ privilege, either through statute or common law.

The Mayor of Canton decides to park in my yard instead of the driveway or even on the main street where there is ample room to park.

WOW you not only violated City Laws and in case of an emergency, placed the citizens at risk but you turfed my yard with your $500 dollar a month piece of crap.

355.02 TRESPASSING VEHICLES PROHIBITED.

(a) No person shall leave any vehicle on private property without permission of the person having the right to possession of such property.

(b) No person shall leave a vehicle in any fire lane except members of a Fire Department.

(c) Parking of motor vehicles or otherwise obstructing fire lanes shall be prohibited at all times. (Ord. 353-77. Passed 10-17-77.)

351.11 PARKING IN ALLEYS AND NARROW STREETS.

(a) No operator of a vehicle shall stop, stand or park any vehicle upon a street, other than an alley, in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than ten feet of the width of the roadway for free movement of vehicular traffic, except that an operator may stop temporarily during the actual loading or unloading of passengers or when necessary in obedience to traffic regulations or traffic signs or signals of a police officer.

(b) No operator shall park a vehicle within an alley in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than ten feet of the width of the roadway for the free movement of vehicular traffic.

(c) No vehicle shall be parked upon any street which is not more than sixteen feet from curb to curb. Upon streets from sixteen to twenty-eight feet, parking shall be permitted on one side only; upon any streets in excess of twenty-eight feet, parking shall be permitted upon both sides. When parking is limited to one side of the street, the Director of Public Safety shall designate the side upon which parking is permitted and shall properly mark the same.

(d) On narrow streets, signs may be placed by the Director within a reasonable distance of the edge of the roadway or curb as he may designate, facing oncoming traffic, and on the side of the street where such sign is placed. No person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle along the edge of such roadway or curb within a distance of twenty feet in both directions from such sign, measured from a point on the edge of the roadway or curb at right angles to such sign.

CANTON — Police officers will not be laid off by the city after all.

The union representing patrol officers voted 94-17 Friday to approve a furlough plan to avoid the layoff of 18 officers, said Bill Adams, president of the Canton Police Patrolmen’s Association. Furloughs are unpaid time or days off work.

505.01 DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE.

(a) No person being the owner or having charge of cattle, sheep, geese, ducks, turkeys, chickens or other fowl or animals shall permit them to run at large upon any public place, or upon any unenclosed lands, or upon the premises of another.

(b) No person being the owner of or having charge of any dog, whether wearing a registration tag or not, shall permit it to run at large upon any public place or upon the premises of another. No owner, keeper or harborer of any female dog shall permit such dog to go beyond the premises of such owner or keeper at any time such dog is in heat, unless such dog is properly in leash. The owner or keeper of every dog shall at all times keep such dog either confined upon the premises of the owner or keeper, or under reasonable control of some person.

(c) The running at large of any such animal in or upon any of the places mentioned in this section is prima-facie evidence that it is running at large in violation of this section.

(d) No person, being the owner or person in charge of any animals, shall keep or confine such animal or animals on a leash, chain or otherwise, so as to permit such animal or animals to reach within five feet of any public sidewalk or street running adjacent to the premises.

Was this a minor oversight? Doubtful! Martin took the time to write this in one of his post.

“…there is a least one contested race that could alter the line up.

Which race is this?

The seventh ward, is the one.

There you have Barton (the incumbent who the SCPR believes will side with Smuckler as these "test votes" come along) versus Republican Richard Hart and independent but former Democrat Shane McCartney.

This is likely to be the only Canton council race that the SCPR covers in any depth. The Stark County Republican Party has written off Canton and therefore there is very little political competition in Canton. The Stark GOP's failure to compete makes it responsible, in part, for the decline of Canton.”

Now he also states within another post on his blog the question as to “WHY AREN'T STARK COUNTY'S CANDIDATES LETTING VOTERS KNOW THEIR VIEWS?”
Why was I purposely placed into this catigory showing to his readers that I had no intergrity?

I did take the time to answer your questions Martin as well as followed up with a phone call to make sure you received the email. You did respond with a verbal yes. So since you couldn't do this I will post my answers here.

Questions:

What in your personal/political background distinguishes you from your opponents Barton/Hart?

Our city needs leadership with global understandings. I have worked with foreign direct investors and assisted with the setup of their companies. I bring to the table the knowledge of our international and national competition, and can point to those directions that create opportunities for the city and its citizens. I am comfortable with and able to aid and advise in our city’s transitions toward local investments and global developments.

I note that your campaign slogan is "Think Globally, Act Locally," in what specific ways in implementing this slogan as an actual personal operational model impact on voters in the 7th Ward?

Think Global, Act Local is acknowledging that our city is in an economic battle toward attracting investments and development. By observing current thriving economies and making valued comparisons, our city can act locally and lead by example; creating availabilities and opportunities towards our economic renewal.

What new ideas would you bring to Canton City Council as a newly elected Ward 7 representative?

Our city has to create attractable means for investors. As a result of my research and past work exposures, I am able to assist in attracting those commercial and micro investments that are attainable to support our local commerce.

We have to develop new foundations. One such direction is to introduce the concept of micro-enterprises or an entrepreneurial institute. Consider the benefits of what micro-industry can accomplish. The core is a tightened focus that hones in on manageable and profitable means at a low cost of setup.

By having several micro-businesses under the same roof, this diverse cosmopolitan becomes reliant on each other, and can grow by leaps and bounds. Each micro-unit could contain its own identity, but share the tools and responsibly toward the group’s overall economic success.

What will you push in Council as your top three goals for achievement by the time you have completed your first two year term as councilman.

Our government has to encourage, not frustrate the city’s economic restoration; therefore sharing my knowledge of the awareness of our global competition would be at the top of my priority list. After introducing the global and national models to council and all those willing to follow, healthy debate will reveal opportunities for improvements, provide options, and motivate people to act in mutual support to formulate collective concepts and phase into the restructuring of our economy.

In what specific ways will you involve citizens of the 7th Ward in your work as a city councilman?

I encourage the involvement of my ward. If there are concerns that I can assist with, I will use every means possible to be accessible, i.e. face to face, phone, email and the mixture of social networks. I would even set up shop to work at council. As long as I had access to Wi-Fi and a phone I will be able to make myself available. However, I do request for the concerned citizens to be kind enough to respect personal time with my family.

Do you plan to visit each and every registered voter before voting begins in your race?

There are many constituents in Ward 7. It will be difficult to see all of them, but I will try. For that main reason, I’ve constructed my website, blog and other online social outlets to make myself available for questions and concerns that I may not be able to address in person. My contact information is published to respond via email as well.

In your talks with Ward 7 voters, what are they telling you about their take on the political, social and economic aspects of Canton and what are they suggesting to you as programs and policies for you to advocate for in Council?

Many people are very concerned about our areas economic condition and the direction our city is heading. These anxieties are evident in their faces. I can empathize; I’ve worn a lot of the same shoes and have crossed many of the same bridges.

There have been many ranges of suggestions, for example, a small bakery/deli to utilize more green initiatives in addition to recycling.
I am very excited and appreciate the ward’s responses. To witness people looking at opportunities for us to develop is encouraging.

Do you think that a Strategic Future Economic Planning Task force should be created by Canton City Council? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Of course! Council is the heart of our city’s economic progressions. This approach begins by studying our competition and learning how they successfully attract and retain businesses, followed by implementing defensive and offensive tactics for our economic survival. This will be a difficult but an achievable task through rational discussions and actions.
The international and national understandings that I have acquired will help contribute toward this united front; we need to shore up our existing strengths as well as open new progressive doors for our city’s economic renewal.

Running as an independent, how does this benefits Ward 7 voters; how does it harm Ward 7 voters?

It would be foolish of me to say I won’t have any opposition or even hesitant voters, but I am a bit biased and see no harm running as an independent. I’m running without political support, financial contributions and all of those other matters that traditional politics have created.
I am able to be a true concerned voice and I come as I am, with the global knowledge I’ve learned and attained to support my community.
I believe that my political party disconnection creates a blank slate and stepping stone for a new movement for political leadership.

Shame on you Martin, you say you want to bring out fair and compelling writings but you can’t even take the time to be courteous to a candidate that did respond to your questions. Shame, Shame, Shame!

Layoffs of Canton police may be coming
CANTON — Layoff notices could be issued both to firefighters and police officers this week.

“I’ve been told that a number of police and firemen will be laid off,” Samuel Sliman, the city’s civil service director, said Tuesday. “And I think it will be this week, but I don’t know of any specific numbers regarding them or any other bargaining unit people or management people.”

Arizona foreclosure rate still among highest in the country
According to the latest report from RealtyTrac, Arizona has the third highest foreclosure rate in the country last month. One in every 135 homes in Arizona received a foreclosure notice in July.

Foreclosure filings reached 19,694 in July of 2009 which is up a whopping 17 percent from Arizona foreclosures in June of 2009 and up 47 percent from the previous year.
