CHARLIE CRICHTON WINS RECORD SIXTH TERM ON CITY COUNCIL, INCUMBENT DAN KEALEY RE-ELECTED
The Burnsville City Council will welcome two familiar faces due to the results of the November 2 General Election. Burnsville voters returned incumbents Charlie Crichton and Dan Kealey to the City Council. For Crichton, first elected in 1992 to the Council, this marks his sixth election victory. Voters returned Kealey for a second term. Both are elected to four year terms and all serve the community at large as Burnsville does not have a ward system.

A total of 30,183 residents voted in the election, with a total of 1836 voting by absentee ballot. The City of Burnsville assembled a team of over 300 election judges and city staff to ensure that voting was handled properly and within the law. Burnsville Police provided extra security and patrol of polling locations to ensure safety.

Well here we are again! Sometimes you just can't seem to win, but the show still goes on.

Sorry that it’s a bit difficult to hear me. Even with all the tests before the show, there’s that one variable that creeps into the works and you only find out later when it shows up. Kinda like that one night stand you had and there’s something odd on your lip that next morning.

Researchers wondered if canines could be trained to smell the chemical difference between patients with cancer and those without. So far, the results have been promising. Studies show test dogs can accurately pick out patients with lung, breast, ovarian and bladder cancers. In some cases, the pups have hit accuracy rates as high as 97 percent.

Each year, VPI looks through the more than 1 million claims submitted to the company, and the most unusual of the bunch receives the annual VPI Hambone Award. Last year’s Hambone Award went to Lulu, a hungry bulldog that gobbled up 15 pacifiers, a bottle cap, and piece of a basketball! Lulu made a full recovery and went on to star in a Rachael Ray Show segment about the VPI Hambone Award. The VPI Hambone Award is named in honor of a VPI-insured dog that got stuck in a refrigerator and ate an entire Thanksgiving ham while waiting for someone to find him. The dog was eventually found, with a licked-clean hambone and a mild case of hypothermia.
